Engine notes

How the 38A0 simulation works

A transparent football simulation should reward choices while keeping enough uncertainty for every run to tell a different story.

One engine, several tests

38A0 turns a small set of football decisions into complete, repeatable simulations. The 38-0 Challenge is a full 38-match management season; 16-38 follows one player across twenty-two seasons; 7-0 compresses tournament pressure into seven matches.

How a season is resolved

In the 38-0 Challenge every match starts from team strength: the weighted ratings of the starting eleven, adjusted by formation, playing style, momentum, fatigue and home advantage. The two teams' strengths become expected goals, and a seeded distribution turns those into a scoreline with goal minutes, cards, injuries and a man of the match. The same formula resolves the other nine fixtures in the round, so the 20-team table is always consistent.

Decisions change the model

Lineup intensity trades quality for fitness recovery. Match approach shifts the attack-defense balance. Sub policy adds fresh legs to the final half hour. Transfers improve the squad permanently. Every choice moves a visible number, and the results page shows exactly what happened.

Seeded, not scripted

Each run has a visible seed. The same mode, choices and seed reproduce the same season, which makes daily challenges and friendly comparisons fair. Daily seeds follow the calendar date, so two players choosing the same club on the same day face identical randomness.

What the score means

The final score combines league points, goal difference, goals scored, titles and achievements. It is designed to compare runs inside 38A0, not to predict real matches or evaluate real clubs.
